What it felt like
Lagg is short for “Like a Good Girl”, it is Utah’s first romance-only bookstore, and it lives in a converted bungalow on Lehi’s historic Main Street. There are tangerine walls, pink script lettering, and an art wall built from fanned-open paperback pages laced with satin ribbon that one of our reviewers is still planning to recreate in her bedroom. Nothing about this shop is hedging.
Seventy-four out of a hundred. Very Good. Four reviewers, an August Saturday, and totals from 60 to 86, which is the widest disagreement in our record and worth understanding before you read the number.
Atmosphere and Design is the strength at 22.5 out of 25, and all four reviewers agreed about it. The old house gives the shop small bright rooms, the displays are staged with real care, and the merchandise is folded into the books rather than parked at the till: clothing, jewellery, notebooks, novelty items, lingerie. One reviewer admitted to buying many non-book items. It is, as another put it, very Instagrammable, and it earns that.
Selection and Curation lands at 17. Read that as focus rather than as failure. Romance is the entire proposition, and within it the range is genuinely deep, covering light-hearted contemporary, dark romance, queer fiction and fantasy, with a good teen selection. If you read romance, this is one of the best curated walls of it in the state. If you do not, there is no second act.
Community Connection scores 19.25, and this is where our reviewers split hard, from 12 to 24. The ones who talked to the staff came away certain: the neighbourhood supports this shop, local leaders stop in and buy things, there is a patch of grass at the back for gatherings and visiting authors, and the wall of community Polaroids is not decoration. Staff expertise and passion took a perfect score from every single reviewer. Queer-friendly is stated plainly and meant, and the shop’s mottos, “This is feminine joy” and “My joy matters”, tell you the rest.
Practical Considerations is the lowest category at 15.25, the weakest practical score in our record. There is no cafe and no wifi. Seating is limited because old-house rooms are small. The walkways are narrow enough that a wheelchair or a stroller will struggle in places, though our reviewer was certain the staff would move the earth to help. There is no real children’s section, because a romance bookstore does not need one.

Lag’s specializes in romance books. And they have an amazing collection of romance novels.
This store is romance book specific but the selection of romance books is vast and meets any romance reader‘a preferences: queer, dark, light-hearted, etc.
Excellently designed for a specific clientele, if you love romance books they offer a wide range for you!

Atmosphere & Design
Small bookstore in an old building. Absolutely charming, and cozy. Just a few small areas to sit.
Amazing, bright atmosphere! They sell fun clothes, accessories, and novelty items. It’s really fun to look around and find your next favorite t-shirt, notebook, or piece of jewelry.
Very instagramable! Lots of well thought out displays that are mixed with products that appeal to a specific customer. I bought many non-book items.
I loved that this book store was repurposing an old house and bringing new life to a historic Main Street. The wall of pages had me ruminating on how I can recreate it in my bedroom. The signs and decor was perfectly matched to the theme of the shop. There are a few adorable couches for settling in, but due to the area being an old house, the spaces were small.
Community Connection
Clearly a community favorite. Queer friendly. Their catchphrase are “This is feminine joy!”, “Good Girl”, and “My Joy matters”
In speaking with the employees, the community welcomes this book store and it is well supported in the neighborhood. Local leaders have showed support by stopping in and purchasing from them. They have a small grass area in the back for gathering and inviting authors.
Practical Considerations
Good selection of teen romance novels. Light on the amenities (no cafe, no WiFi).
The store is wheelchair accessible but with some narrow walkways, possibly making it difficult to navigate with a stroller or wheelchair. There is not a kid-friendly area or a section for children’s books, since the store is romance specific.
This is not a book store with a large children’s section. They did have a few picture books, but its collection is geared to adults. Because of the small space it might be tricky for a wheel chair (or stroller) but the staff was so friendly, I’m 100% sure they would accommodate their needs.
Overall
This is a welcoming bookstore for everyone! If you are looking for a safe place to find a romance book, this is it. And it’s amazing!
Lagg is a bright and welcoming store in an old house on Main Street in Lehi, Utah. It is brightly decorated and queer-friendly, which is needed in its community. The staff are friendly and helpful. Overall, its a great stop for any book lover!
Loved this bookstore, I would go back again and again! This definitely met my interests and I loved the additional products scattered throughout the books, it added a fun element and an overall more robust shopping experience!
I LOVED this book store! From the collection of books, clothing, lingerie and books to the employees welcoming personalities, I was sold. I felt like I made two new friends to talk books with and left with the cutest sweatshirt.

Bright tangerine walls, pink script lettering, and a stunning art wall made from fanned-open paperback pages laced with satin ribbons set a tone that is playful, confident, and deeply photogenic. The staff are the heartbeat of this place. Every one of our reviewers gave them a perfect score for expertise and passion, and it shows: labeled staff-pick shelves line the register wall, and conversations with the team feel less like customer service and more like swapping recommendations with someone who genuinely loves the genre.
