Content use and licensing

Hello Book Nerd wants its published field notes to be easy to find, cite and use. Search engines, assistants and model developers may crawl the public reader site for search, live retrieval and model training, subject to the rights below.

Original editorial text

Unless a page says otherwise, original editorial text published by Hello Book Nerd is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International licence.

That means you may copy, redistribute and adapt that text for any purpose, including search indexing, summaries, retrieval-augmented answers and model training, provided you give appropriate credit. Credit Hello Book Nerd and link to the canonical page the material came from. Please indicate if you changed the text.

BookScore results and factual place metadata may be indexed, cited and reused with the same attribution. The licence applies to copyrightable original editorial expression, not to facts themselves.

What the licence does not include

Photographs, logos, trademarks, reviewer quotations and third-party material are not offered under CC BY 4.0 unless a page expressly says they are. They remain subject to their own rights. A licence for the surrounding article does not grant a licence to reuse its photographs or quoted material.

Public and operational pages

This policy covers the public reader site: the field guide, place pages, dated reviews, the BookScore explanation, the About page and the style guide. The private reviewer workflow on survey.hellobooknerd.com is for invited reviewers, is excluded from public discovery and is not part of the licensed editorial collection.
