A used and new bookshop in a former car mechanic’s workshop on a busy Millcreek intersection. Books are displayed by genre in artistic cases alongside antiques. Runs free-book events for teachers and children and carries standing deals for educators. The deepest selection score in the record at 23 out of 25. No air conditioning, a small car park, and narrow aisles in places.

Inside the bookshop

A narrow aisle between tall white bookcases packed to the edges, gilt-framed oil paintings propped along the tops of both runs, a strip light overhead, and a glossy deep purple floor leading to a plum velvet settee under a framed print at the far end.

Two matched black bookcases labelled FRANKLIN, filled with gilt-tooled Franklin Library leather editions in red, green and tan, with small bronze figures and a glass globe on top. Shoppers move through the aisles behind them.
Staff picks
A white-painted brick alcove with a plum velvet button-backed settee against the end wall, a framed print of two tumbling figures above it, a large gilt-framed oil painting on each side wall, and long boxes of back-issue comics on stands to left and right.
Somewhere to sit
A crowded corner of curiosities: a gilt-framed burlesque oil painting and a portrait of a film star on the white brick walls, carved masks between them, a mirrored vitrine of antiquarian sets, a marble-topped console stacked with old books, and a tall glass cabinet of tarot decks. A small navy sign on the shelf reads Marissa's Bookstore.
